Some Personal Time

I will be away for the next few days.

Bro. Jeff

New from Dewalt

New from Dewalt

New Nail Gun, made by Dewalt. It can drive a 16d nail through a 2 X 4 at 200 yards. This makes construction a breeze, you can sit in your lawn chair and build a fence. Just get the wife and kids to hold the fence boards in place while you sit back, relax with a cold drink, when they have the board in the right place just fire away. With the hundred round magazine, you can build the fence with a minimum of reloading. After a day of fence building with the new Dewalt Rapid Fire Nail Gun, the wife will not ask you to fix or build anything else.

"What is a Christian?"

SPEAK UP

A small boy sat in church with his mother and listened to a sermon entitled “What is a Christian?”

Every time the pastor asked the question he banged his fist on the pulpit. “Mama, do you know?” the boy whispered to his mother. “Yes, dear,” she replied, “and now be quiet.”

Finally, when the pastor again demanded, “What is a Christian?” and banged especially hard, the boy shouted, “Tell him mama, tell him!”

Today, at Spruceland Baptist Church we will be making it very clear what is a "christian".

BTW, it is not 'what' you know that makes you a christian, but 'who' you know that makes you a christian!!

“THAT IGNORANT MATERIAL”

Regena and I headed out this morning on our S O S (Sowing On Saturdays), after going door to door on a couple of streets. We finished one area and next week we will start another area of the city.

After SOS, we took in about an hour at the Mennonite Fall Fair, a super large ‘garage sale”. Visiting with a few folks there, and then moving on with our day. We then went to the “Home Show” at CN Centre for about an hour or so.

There he walked up to me and neither one of us remember each others name. I said “Conrad”, no it was Gary. We had seen Gary since we moved from CNC, which has been at least six years. Gary had finished his courses at the college and just has been working away. Not attending church any where so I was able to encouraged Gary to come and visit with us again.

Once we got home there was a message on the phone. Shawn had called. This morning we had left a gospel tract in his mailbox. Shawn read enough of the tract to get offended. So he gave us a call to complain about “that ignorant material” being left in his box.

Well, I say. Praise the Lord, at least Shawn gave us a call. Knowing the thousands of gospel tracts we have spread over the City of Prince George, we have only a few complains. The gospel will make some folks glad and some folks mad. With apathy about spiritual things in these times, it is great to see some emotion.

Pray for Shawn.

Bail Out Plan

This was forwarded to me...what think ye???

Bail Out Plan

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America
in a We Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000
bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man,
woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults
18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that
equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a "We Deserve It Dividend".
Of course, it would NOT be tax free.

So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.

That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.

A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?

Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.

Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads

Put away money for college - it'll be there

Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

Buy a new car - create jobs

Invest in the market - capital drives growth

Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves

Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks
who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other
company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in
our Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...

instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( "vote buy" ) economic incentive that is
being proposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it.

Sell off its parts.

Let American General go back to being American General.

Sell off the real estate.

Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.

Sure it's a crazy idea that can "never work."

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion
"We Deserve It Dividend" more than do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC.

And remember, The plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because

$25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Now isn't that a sobering thought!

Thanks Bro. Fred B.

MY RULE FOR CHRISTIAN LIVING

Dr. J. Wilbur Chapman had this which he called ”My rule for Christian living.”

The rule that governs my life is this: “Anything that dims my vision of Christ, takes away my taste for Bible study, or cramps my prayer life, or makes Christian work difficult, is wrong for me, and I must , as a Christian, turn away from it.”

This simple rule may help you find a safe road for your feet along life’s pathway.

Friday Funnies - Farmer and his Mule

An old hillbilly farmer had a wife who nagged him unmercifully. From morning till night (and sometimes later), she was always complaining about something. The only time he got any relief was when he was out plowing with his old mule He tried to plow a lot.

One day, when he was out plowing, his wife brought him lunch in the field. He drove the old mule into the shade, sat down on a stump, and began to eat his lunch. Immediately, his wife began nagging him again. Complain, nag, complain, nag; it just went on and on.

All of a sudden, the old mule lashed out with both hind feet, caught her smack in the back of the head. Killed her dead on the spot.

At the funeral several days later, the minister noticed something rather odd. When a woman mourner would approach the old farmer, he would listen for a minute, then nod his head in agreement; but when a man mourner approached him, he would listen for a minute, then shake his head in disagreement. This was so consistent, the minister decided to ask the old farmer about it.

So after the funeral, the minister spoke to the old farmer, and asked him why he nodded his head and agreed with the women, but always shook his head and disagreed with all the men.

The old farmer said, "Well, the women would come up and say something about how nice my wife looked, or how pretty her dress was, so I'd nod my head in agreement."

"And what about the men?" the minister asked. "They wanted to know if the mule was for sale."

My Pastor - Right or Wrong

I have a pastor. Time was when he was a good pastor. I pronounced him great. This I did because I like him.

His sermons were wonderful - as long as I liked him.

His speech was passing fair - as long as I liked him.

He was a hard worker - as long as I liked him.

He was the man for the job - as long as I liked him.

In fact, I was strong for him - as long as I liked him.

But my pastor offended me one day. Whether he knew or not, I do not know. Since that day my pastor has ceased to be a good pastor- he is just an ordinary one.

His sermons are not so wonderful - since he offended me.

His speech is of no account - since he offended me.

His faults are more prominent - since he offended me.

He is not a hard worker - since he offended me.

He’s not the man for the job - since he offended me.

In fact, I’m trying to oust him - since he offended me.

Many times our estimate of a pastor is determined in a large measure by personal likes or dislikes. Individual feelings, whether we realize it or not, colour our judgment. Liking a pastor, we like his work. Disliking a pastor, he cannot please us. God help us to rise above the little petty things, and see men and issues in their clear light!!!

MY ALL FOR CHRIST

MY HANDS

1Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

MY FEET
Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

MY EYES
John 4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

MY EARS
Mark 4:2-9 And he taught them many things … and said … He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

MY MOUTH
Psalm 51:15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

MY HEART

1Kings 8:61 Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.

MY MIND
Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself

Freedom Follows The Flag

Reading the "Book of the Law" is a privilege which not all have. When the Americans first occupied Manila, the prison doors were opened for "political offenses." One of these crimes, according to the Spanish government, which then ruled the Philippines, was reading the Bible.

One day a man came to Dr. Homer Stuntz (Methodist missionary) and asked to see him in strict privacy. He then asked in a whisper if it were true that he could now read his Bible without danger of imprisonment.

Dr. Stuntz took him to the door and asked him to look at the American flag floating near by. The he said, "so long as you see that flag floating over your country, you can sit on the ridgepole of your house, if you want to, and read the Bible, and no one can molest you."

Why not right now, thank God for the freedom we have in the "cross of Calvary" and the freedom we have to read the Word of God.

Now, remember that there are those who know no freedom. May God help us to reach the lost and dying souls of this world.

Freedom Is ...

FREEDOM IS KNOWING THE TRUTH
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free

FREEDOM IS BEING FORGIVEN
Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

FREEDOM IS LIVING FOREVER
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

FREEDOM IS TRUSTING JESUS
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

FOUR WAYS PEOPLE ACQUIRE A FORTUNE.

1. They find it.

2. They inherit it.

3. They steal it.

4. They earn it.

I am proud to be ...

From an email by David Cummings

My son-in-law is a Marine and Proud of it, so am I proud of him being a Marine
I am proud of being a Baptist, there is no other group I would rather be in or even desire to be in! I am absolutely proud of the fact!

I am proud of being saved! And if I were not saved, I'd be ashamed of myself! (unless God had turned me over to my own reprobate self, then I'd have no shame!)
I am proud of being a Christian! And the same said!
I am proud of being a pastor, a preacher of the gospel, a winner of souls and a leader of Christians.

I am proud of being a person who disciples others!
I am proud to be an American!
I am proud to be a husband!
I am proud to be the father of my three children!
I am extremely proud!

However, I would have absolutely nothing to be proud of if it were not for Christ my Savior! His grace gives us what we need to be proud, and not be in sin in the situation! There are certain things to be proud of! Really Proud Of! I am!
If I would ever cease from any of these, I would be totally ashamed!

To explain:
When I sin, I am ashamed of myself!
When I let down my Lord, I am ashamed of myself!
When I let down my family, I am ashamed of myself!
When I let down my baptist heritage, I am ashamed of myself!
When I let down my country, I am ashamed of myself!
And so on and so forth!

Now, he who is proud of nothing, has lost his will to nothingness, not to God.
He who stands for nothing, will fall for anything!
He who has no pride, has no shame!
He who has no vision cares nothing about those who parish!
He who bends with the wind, is never straight!
He who has a back bone, is not a noodle!

I enjoy fanatics! They stand, even when they do not really know why, but are always wanting to know more about why they stand. They are teachable.
I do not enjoy the all inclusive! They stand a bit for everything, and never are true to anything.
I enjoy the cold hearted! They like to talk about it and when they see the light, they become diligent, on fire fanatics for their new found belief.

Until later,
David Cummings

Great Sunday Sept 21 08

Two Pastors and their wives were with us this Sunday.

Pastor Charlies Boyd and his lovely bride Nancy of 51 years stop by this weekend returning to the lower forty-eight. The Boyds have been in Alaska since June and are traveling back to Mississippi.

Pastor Tom Stastny and Tana has been with us this last week. Bro. Tom and I did a little hunting earlier this week, then he preached our Missions Conference. Tana spoke to our ladies on Saturday evening at China Sails.

It is great being able to introduce our folks to other "Men of God". It helps to reinforce our Independent, Fundamental, Bible believing and Conservative Baptist position.

Night Two 2008 Missions Conference

Here is one of our hymns for this evening service.

Pastor Stastny is doing a great job in presenting local church giving and involvement.

“HEAR THE BLESSED SAVIOUR”
(tune Come unto me)

Hear the blessed Saviour calling unto you,
“Oh, ye saved and happy - there is work to do
Go! No longer tarry, I have sent you there
With the Gospel message, go out everywhere.”

Go out today, I have sent you there.
Take the Gospel message, Go out everywhere.
Surely I am with Thee, Go and trust My might
To those souls in darkness, take the Gospel light.

Is your life a failure, giving you no joy?
Give it to the Master, work in His employ.
He will use you daily, witnessing for Him.
Then you will be happy, more than you’ve e’er been.

Have you sought for pleasures from this world of sin?
But you found those pleasures brought no peace within.
Christ will satisfy you, see His work to do;
He has satisfied me, He will please you, too.

Friday Funnies - NY Lawyer vs, East Texas Deputy Sheriff

Only in Texas my friends... Only in Texas

A lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by a sheriff's deputy. He thinks that he is smarter than the deputy because he is a lawyer from New York and is certain that he has a better education then any cop from East Texas . He decides to prove this to himself and have some fun at the Texas deputy' s expense.

The deputy says,' License and registration, please.'

'What for?' says the lawyer.

The deputy says, 'You didn't come to a complete stop at the stop sign.'

Then the lawyer says, 'I slowed down, and no one was coming.'

'You still didn't come to a complete stop, Says the deputy. License and registration, please.'

The lawyer says, 'What's the difference?'

'The difference is you have to come to complete stop, that's the law License and registration, please!' the Deputy says.

Lawyer says, 'If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I'll give you my license and registration; and you give me the ticket. If not, you let me go and don't give me the ticket.'

'That sounds fair. Please exit your vehicle, sir,' the deputy says.

At this point, the deputy takes out his nightstick and starts beating the daylights out of the lawyer and says, 'Do you want me to stop, or just slow down?'

Open Season- Stastny Deschamp Hunt

Sunset over a lake where we have been moose and deer hunting over the last few days.

One of the young men with us shot his first black bear.

Pastor Tom Stastny and I left the hunting party, as we came home to prepare for our Faith Promise Missons Conference.

It was nice to be out in the woods for a few days of fellowship, prayer and tromping thru the swamps, over the cut blocks.

My Spiritual Birthday

Here is my story, Bro. Donald L. Ledbetter started the West Erwin St. Baptist Church in September of 1962. They started in a small donut shop and them moved to the old ‘Max Town Tavern’. It was there that my Aunt Teen and cousin Donnie started attend and it was long till Donnie was teaching Jr. Boys.

With West Erwin St. Baptist Church coming up on their first year anniversary, Donnie had a contest as to who would bring the most boys to Sunday School. Donnie brought Sammy by my house and they invited me to church, if I came a Sammy’s visitor it would help Sammy win a hamster.

I started attending W. E. S. B. C. and on the 3rd Sunday of September 1963 I repented of my sins and trusted Jesus Christ as my Saviour. Oh, Sammy won the hamster and it has been dead along time now. But from that day September 15, 1963 I have ’new life’ in Christ.

Today, I praise the Lord for His goodness and grace to save a lost sinner such as I.

I praise the Lord for sending Don Ledbetter to start W. E. S. B. C.

And I praise the Lord for a cousin, who was a Sunday School teacher who cared for my lost soul.

Who could you reach for Christ today??

7 Basic Bible Doctrines and Obama

If you take 7 basic Bible doctrines that all true Christians hold to you and compare with what someone like Barrack Hussein Obama holds with you quickly see he is not a Christian. A question begs asking- When did he accept a Muslim name, instead of his given Christian name Barry Sotera? If he has become a true Christian at what point did he renounce the works of Islam, and declare Mohammed as the false prophet that he is, and Allah as the false god, or Moon god.

A Christian is someone who has been born again, redeemed, having accepted the shed blood of the Lord Jesus as the only way into heaven. Someone who has admitted to being a hell deserving sinner, and has put all their trust for eternity in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Seven Reasons why Obama is not a Christian, borrowing from his answers at Saddleback in an on camera interview-

1) His view of God the Father- Perhaps due to not having much of a father figure in his life, his view of God the Father is skewed. However in his interview he says he believes in a higher power. This then is his view of God, just a higher power.

2) His view of God the Son- He stated that Jesus was a good teacher, a good example. He said he believes in the historical Christ. That is what Modernists hold with!

3) His view of the Holy Spirit- He said his view was that this was the anointing that came on preachers when they got excited in the pulpit.

4) His view of Heaven- He does not believe in a heaven the way the Bible describes it, but more peace of mind.

5) His view of Hell- He openly said he cannot believe in a God that would send a little Hindu boy from India to suffer in flames because he had not turned to Jesus. He cannot believe in a hell like that. He misses the point that we are all Hell bound sinners, and wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be that go in thereat. He misses salvation altogether. Like all modernists his view of Hell is it is only for really mean, extremely wicked people, and all good people will avoid it.

6) His view of the Bible- Every Christian should readily admit that the Holy Bible is God's Word, not just containing some good words from God. He misrepresents every scripture he has ever quoted, or partially quoted. His view of the Bible is that it is a good book, along with other good books. I still hold that he has stated in his book "The Audacity of Hope" that "If the political winds change he will side with the Muslims" is further proof that he is not a Christian.

7) His view of prayer sums it up- He claimed that when he prays it is conversations he has with himself. I guess that makes him his own god! That is Humanism's goal, and as a secular humanist he lives up to the expectation. He believes meditation is prayer. Prayer is Asking and Receiving according to the Bible.

So in all 7 major Bible areas of testing he would fail every one! Any true Christian should be able to readily to see he is not a Christian. Besides the fact that he attends a radical Africa first church that denies almost every tenant of scripture, the man is at odds with all tenants of Christianity. Any true Christian would have to hold against abortion, and he is extremely as far left as you can go on that subject! He would not want his girls cursed with a baby!! I guess babies don't come from God!

Attached is the "speech" Senator Obama made where he made the statement about America not being a Christian nation. Also, he shows a complete ignorance of understanding how to "rightly divied the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15) and he ridicules, in my opinion, some of the teacings in the Old Testament and the Semon on the Mount. I sent an email several weeks ago and some have challenged the statement I made about hearing Senator Obama make the statement about America not being a Christian nation. Listen to the speech yourself and then decide for yourself. You will probably be as appaled as I was when I heard him make it.

Let's Get Rid Of Management

People
don't want
to be
managed.

They want
to be led.

Whoever heard
of a world manager?

World leader, Yes.

Educational leader.

Political leader.

Religious leader.

Scout leader.

Community leader.

Labor leader.

Business leader.

They lead.

They don't manage.

The carrot
always win
over the stick.

Ask your horse.

You can lead your
horse to water,
but you can't
manage him
to drink.

If you want to
manage somebody,
manage yourself.

Do that well
and you'll
be ready to
stop managing.

And start
leading.

1. Having received Jesus Christ as our Savour, He has taken you into the family of God.
John 1:12, 13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Rest In This TRUTH.

2. The Holy Spirit live in you, imparting to you eternal life.
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

3. The Lord Jesus is your Shepherd.
John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
John 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

4. The Good Shepherd will care for His Sheep. Trust Him.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

5. You have His authority to ask for whatever you need.
John 14:13, 14 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

6. You will find joy in service for Him.
John 4:35, 36 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

John 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

John 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

7. You will enjoy the fruit of service through Eternity.
John 4:36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal:

Update on Church Plant Hinton Baptist Church

Update from Dr. Earl Jessup,

The final service in Hinton was one of the most impressive final services I have been in. There were around 50 in the service with most of the visitors from the previous nights from the Hinton area attending. We did not have any first time visitors from the area tonight. Pastor Shane Davis spoke on John 1:22, “Then said they unto him, (John the Baptist) Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?” It was an excellent message in sharing his vision for Hinton Baptist Church. Following the invitation, Pastor Harness came to the pulpit and read the motions passed by Victory Baptist Church on July 13th and then proceeded to share with those in attendance that one more matter of business needed to be taken care of. He then asked the members of Victory to transfer the memberships of Pastor and Mrs. Davis to Hinton Baptist Church and also there were two other families that chose to join the church as well. The folks from Victory voted them into the membership of Hinton Baptist. Pastor Harness then read the “Declaration of Independence” formally making Hinton Baptist Church an independent Baptist church. He then had a prayer of dedication and we all sang the Doxology.

I want to thank the members of Victory Baptist who sacrificed so much for this church plant. Nearly 20 of them took off work and stayed in Hinton for these meetings. They prepared meals and also did whatever was necessary to make this church plant a success. Nearly half of the homes in Hinton were knocked on during the afternoons and there were visitors from the community because of those efforts. I also want to thank the pastors and members of 13 or 14 churches that traveled more than 2 hours to attend these meetings and help knock on doors. Some of these pastors and members also stayed for several days in Hinton. I honestly believe God has blessed this meeting because of the cooperation of these churches in this church planting effort.

May we all pray for the Grand Opening Sunday for Hinton Baptist Church and that the Lord will continue to bring out visitors and that this church will be a great lighthouse in this community.

Now, Pastor Davis the work continues as a lighthouse in the community of Hinton, AB. Jeff

"But For A Moment"

The hypocrite’s joy.

Job 20:5 That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

The Lord’s anger.

Psalms 30:5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

The liar’s tongue.

Proverbs 12:19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

Our light affiction.

2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

Dr. Earl Jessup on Hinton Baptist Church Plant

Here are a few more photos and a report from Dr. Earl Jessup.

Dr. Earl Jessup

Gentlemen,
I wanted to drop you a note to update you on the meetings here in Hinton. On Sunday evening there were around 50 in the service with 7 families from the Hinton area. Three of these families were new with four coming to one of the services previously held. Last evening there were 75 in the service with all the families returning but one. He told us he could not return until Wednesday evening but that he would be back then. There were also two new visitors to the services last evening as well.
I want to commend the preachers that came last evening to the service. We had 10 preachers in the service last night and they traveled a great distance. It says a lot about our movement when preachers are willing to drive as these men did to get here.

Pastor Tim Bicha – Harvest Baptist Church, Grand Prairie, AB – 5 hours
Pastor Andy Baduria – Berean Baptist Church, Quensel, BC – 6.5 hours
Pastor Jeff Hallmark – Spruceland Baptist Church, Prince George, BC – 5.5 hours
Dr. Bill Hiltz BMFP – Came with Brother Hallmark – 5.5 hours
Evangelist Dave Webster – Prince Albert SK – 11 hours
Pastor Pat Hollingsworth – Wabamum AB – 2 hours
Pastor Brian Rice – Cornerstone Baptist Church – Edmonton, AB – 3 hours
Pastor Paul Szabatin – Cornerstone Baptist Church – Edmonton, AB - 3 hours
Pastor Greg Vaal – New Testament Baptist Church – Edmonton – 3 hours
Pastor Shem Daharenpar – Mt View Baptist Church – Olds AB - 5 hours
Pastor Dave Harness – Victory Baptist Church – Sherwood Park, AB 3.5 hours

I appreciate what Brother Baduria said at the close of the service last evening. He made it clear to those attending that we are not some group or hierarchy where we have to do this but that they came because they wanted to see this new church do well. It was an impressive service and I wanted the pastors around this country that we have men who are willing to sacrifice a great deal to see churches planted. This is what it is going to take to reach this country.

Please pray for the meetings here in Hinton and Pastor Shane Davis as he pastors this new work.

New Church Plant in Hinton, Alberta

Dr. Bill Hiltz, Pastor Andrew Baduria and I travel to Hinton, Alberta for the Opening Service of
Hinton Baptist Church.
This is an exciting new church on the west side of the Province of Alberta and is at the gate way to Jasper National Park.
They are our closes neighbors to the east, being just 500 kms (300+ miles) from Prince George.

I was able to visit with many of the folks from Hinton, and find this a very warm and friendly community. Praise God for this local New Testament Baptist Church.

Our prayers and encouragements are with Pastor and Mrs. Shane Davis and Hinton Baptist Church.

More Teaching from St. John the Apostle

THE ETERNAL LIFE OF THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND ACCEPT JESUS AS SAVOUR

Believers in Jesus are Given Authority to Claim this Right as Children of God: John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Eternal Life is Imparted to Those Who Have Accepted Jesus Christ: John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

HATH (present possession; is passed out of a condition): John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

I WILL Raise Him Up at the Last Day: John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

(There are 14 more definite assurances of salvation for the believer in the 6th chapter.)

THE PERSONALITY OF SATAN

Jesus calls him, the Prince of this World: John 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. John 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

Jesus calls him the Devil: John 13:2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

Jesus Assures us of Judgment upon him: John 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

THE ETERNAL PUNISHMENT OF UNBELIEVERS

Those Who Refuse to Believe on Jesus Die in Their Sins: John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
John 8:25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.

The Wrath of God Abideth on the Unbeliever: John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

The Two Resurrections - One of Life, the Other of Damnation: John 5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
John 5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

The Eternal Glory of Believers: John 17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
John 17:23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

St. John's Five Fundamental Doctrines

THE FIVE GREAT FUNDAMENTAL DOCTRINES
FOUND IN THE GOSPEL OF ST. JOHN

1. The Infallible Word of God

2. The Deity of Jesus Christ

3. His Blood Atonement for Sin

4. His Physical, Bodily Resurrection

5. His Personal, Bodily Return

INSPIRATION OF THE WORD OF GOD

Joh 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Joh 8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.

Joh 12:50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

GOD AS FATHER
(A Few Passages of Many)

Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one.

Joh 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

JESUS CHRIST, GOD’S SON, AS ONE WITH THE FATHER

Eternal God: Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.

Joh 8:25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.

Omnipotent: Joh 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

Omniscient: Joh 2:24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
Joh 2:25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

Omnipresent: Joh 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

Jesus as Creator: Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

The Visible Manifestation of God: Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Jesus and the Father One: Joh 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

Jesus, God in Human Form: Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Jesus Received Worship as God: Joh 9:35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
Joh 9:36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
Joh 9:37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
Joh 9:38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.

After His Resurrection, He Accepted the title of “Lord and God”:
Joh 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
Joh 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

THE HOLY SPIRIT AS ONE WITH THE FATHER AND THE SON, AND YET DISTINCT IN PERSONALITY

He Proceeds from the Father: Joh 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

He is Sent by the Risen Son: Joh 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
Joh 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

To Abide in the Believer Forever: Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

To be our Teacher: Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

To Glorify the Lord Jesus: Joh 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

THE SACRIFICE (ATONEMENT) OF JESUS FOR THE SINS OF MEN

He was God’s Lamb to Take Away Sin: Joh 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

He Died to Give Life to Sinners: Joh 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

He Gave His Life for the World: Joh 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

THE RESURRECTION

He Foretold His Going to the Father: Joh 16:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

He Appeared to His Disciples in His Resurrection Body: Joh 20:19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
Joh 20:20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.

He Gave Physical Proof in His Glorified Body: Joh 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
Joh 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
Joh 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Joh 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

THE ASCENSION OF JESUS CHRIST TO BE WITH THE FATHER

John 16:7
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for
you that I go away: for if I go not away, the
Comforter will not come unto you;
but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

The Presence of the Holy Spirit in the Believer is the Proof of His Ascension: Joh 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST

He Went; He Must Return: Joh 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Among the Last Words of Jesus Before His Ascension: Joh 21:22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
Joh 21:23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?

Tell Me About the Baptists

B A P T I S T S
Distinctive

Biblical Authority - The Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. No decree of men or of any council of churches can supersede the Bible (2Tim 3:16,17) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Autonomy of the Local Visible Church - The local church is an independent body accountable only to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church. No religious hierarchy outside the local visible church may dictate a church's beliefs or practices (Col 1:18) And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Priesthood of Believers - Every believer today is a priest of God and may enter into His presence directly through our Great High Priest, Jesus Christ. No human mediator is needed between God and man (1 Peter 2:5-9) Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Two Ordinances - The local visible church practices only two ordinances, Baptism by immersion in water and Lord's Supper, or communion (Mat 28:19,20;) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
1 Cor. 11:23-32) For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Individual Soul Liberty - Every individual has the liberty and responsibility to believe as his own conscience dictates, within the framework of the Word of God. No one is forced to assent to any belief against his will. However, this doctrine does not grant a license to sin or to continually oppose the practices of the Church based upon Scripture (Rom. 14:5-12)

One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Saved Church Membership - Local, visible church membership is restricted to individuals who give believable testimony of a personal faith in Christ and publicly identified themselves with Him in believer's baptism (Acts 2:41-47) Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Two Offices - Pastor and Deacon - Only two Biblically mandated offices exist in the Church: Pastor and Deacon. These two offices exist within the local visible church, not as a hierarchy outside of or over the local church (1 Tim 3:1, & 13) This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

- -For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Separation of Church and State - God established both the Church and the civil government, and gave each its own distinctive sphere of operation. Neither should control the other (Matt. 22:15-22) Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk. And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.

Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way
